Know the Essentials of Bronze Casting

Bronze sand casting is like any other sand casting methods. The only difference being that instead of pouring a pure metal liquid into the mold, liquefied bronze – which is a mix of copper and tin – is used. This bronze solution is poured into the mold and allowed to cool down. Once the mold takes the required shape, the sand surrounding the object is removed. The end result is a beautiful bronze sculpture that looks beautiful and authentic.

In the ancient era, bronze was extensively used as a casting agent. The original item would be cut into pieces and each piece would be molded in bronze. Once the separate pieces had been neatly prepared and the sand around it removed, all of the pieces were joined together in a single unit in a seamless way. This item would then be sand casted and replicated for production purposes.

This is one of the simplest ways of production and is used even today. The reason why this method survives even today is that the products made from bronze are durable. They would last for a long time without any wear or tear. This made them a reliable material for creating everyday objects as well as works of art and décor.

In addition to merging the ancient methods with new production techniques, companies nowadays ensure that lead free castingmethods are used as they are environment and people friendly. The production process is somewhat like this:

Solid blocks of bronze are heated to approximately 2,250 degrees Fahrenheit so that they attain a liquid state. The liquid bronze is stirred and the foundry workers carefully carry the liquid bronze out of the heating furnace. The workers are required to wear protective gear such as face shields, clothes, gloves and boots. The workers then pour the bronze solution into a shell where it is left to cool for some hours. The negative space between the shells turns into a bronze casting. This is how bronze sand casting is usually done.
